The Mom Test

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great fundamental thesis, easy to get through in a day. Touches on a lot of common mistakes for user interviews worth knowing about.

Wanting: The Power of Mimetic Desire in Everyday Life
Luke Burgis

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I can already tell that mimetic theory is probably something that will come to mind frequently in the future as I explore the world. I can see why many have become enamored with Girard’s ideas, and I look forward to reading more of his books.

Read Write Own: Building the Next Era of the Internet
Chris Dixon

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was hoping that, of all people, Chris Dixon would be the best to convince me of the importance of blockchain as a technology. I must say I’m still left pretty skeptical. Maybe it’s because I dislike being online, and so I have difficulty finding any enthusiasm for improving the online experience. I do, however, find the conversations around things like DePIN rather interesting and worth further study.

The Luxury Strategy

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Being introduced to luxury strategies feels a bit like an introduction to relativity, where classical laws and assumptions break down, and new ones emerge. Just as with physics, a proper understanding of this extreme realm leaves you with a much more profound understanding of how its subjects work.

How to Make a Few Billion
Brad Jacobs
8/22/2025
⭐️⭐️⭐️

My main take away was Jacobs’ emphasis on the importance of other people for what he’s accomplished. Hearing it from someone so successful was invaluable to me. The only reason I rated it lower was that I felt like I could have gotten this lesson in fewer pages. Otherwise, great book.
